Frame Rates
Frame Rates
The term frame rate means ‘The frequency at which frames in
a televisions picture, film, or video sequence are displayed. ‘(google.com)
Frames are the individual pictures shown as the playback,
and are measured in FPS ‘Frames Per Second’; the more shots, the smoother the
playback.
There are two main fps rates, 12 FPS and 24 FPS
12 FPS
12 FPS is a smooth
animation, however the animation could be a lot smoother, an example of 12 FPS
animation can be seen at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4IWxKfkJ9o
In the animation you
can see that the video is jumpy at times due to the lower frame rate.
24 FPS
24 FPS is a very
smooth animation, and it is the one in which most professional projects are
shot, for example, Shaun the sheep, an example of Claymation shot at 24 FPS can
be seen at this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPAUH_lOlbM
